Notice of Election Information

PURSUANT TO THE MUNICIPAL ELECTION REGULATIONS

 Notice

Public notice is hereby given to the electors of the Resort Municipality of Stanley Bridge, Hope River, Bayview, Cavendish and North Rustico that a Municipal Election will be held on August 8, 2022 to elect a Mayor and 6 Councillors.

An advance poll will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022 between 10 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at 7591 Cawnpore Lane, Cavendish.

Voting will occur on August 8th from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm at 7591 Cawnpore Lane, Cavendish.

Electors must bring identification (ID) or documents with their name and address.  Electors can bring one piece of government ID with their name and address OR two pieces of ID or documents with their name on both and address on at least one.

Electors that cannot prove their current address can bring two pieces of ID with their name and sign a declaration at the poll.

The nominations for the position of (1) Mayor and (6) Councillors for the Resort Municipality of Stanley Bridge, Hope River, Bayview, Cavendish and North Rustico closed on July 22, 2022.

PURSUANT TO THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT ACT

 

Notice

Public notice is hereby given to the electors of the Resort Municipality of Stanley Bridge, Hope River, Bayview, Cavendish and North Rustico that a Municipal Election will be held on August 8, 2022 to elect 1 Mayor and 6 Councillors for the Resort Municipality for the term of office terminating on the 6th day of September 2026.

 

The nomination period for the Mayor and Councillor positions commences on July 13, 2022 and closes at 2:00 pm on July 22, 2022.

 

Nominations shall only be received during office hours at the election office, Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., located at 7591 Cawnpore Lane.

 

The deadline for correcting elector information shall be no later than 11:59 a.m. on July 26, 2022.

Multi-Cultural Community Heritage Day:

The event was held on June 25, 2022 at the Stewart Homestead Community Park.

Hon. Heath MacDonald MP for Malpeque provided remarks.

Beautification Awards:

The Business beautification Award was presented to Cavendish Beach Marina and Resort (Inn at the Pier) Dale and Lorna Larkin in recognition of business owners that have significantly enhanced the community, through your outstanding commitment to the beautification of your property.  

Residential Beautification Award was presented to Herdis and Stig Andersen who live on Stanley Road. In recognition of property owners that have significantly enhanced the community, through your outstanding commitment to the beautification of their property with their work on their cottages on their property.    

Etta Ellis was present to present the Dr. Kent Ellis Memorial Award:

Dr. Kent Ellis Memorial Award:
This award was created in 2008 in memory of Dr. Kent Ellis in recognition of outstanding commitment to volunteerism in the community and the award is being presented this year to Noreen Heighton and Donna Nicholson.

Donna and Noreen are members of the Avonlea Women’s Institute and work tirelessly each year to pick up garbage throughout the community and make it look beautiful.

This year’s event took place on Saturday June 30, 2018. In the first photo, George Clark Dunning, Planning Board Chair presents Shawn McGee & Cathy Sinclair with the Business Beautification Award.
